Born in 1953, Mr. Ashok Jaipuria is widely known as a visionary entrepreneur, an outstanding humanitarian, and a philanthropist, Jaipuria is the promoter, chairman and managing director of Cosmo First Limited. He is best known as the pioneer BOPP Films manufacturing in India.
Mr. Jaipuria received the Outstanding Achievement Award in 2013 at the second Speciality Films & Flexible Packaging Conference, conferred by the Chemicals & Petrochemicals Manufacturers Association (CPMA), Mumbai. He was also named in Best under a Billion, Forbes Global 200 Best Small Companies for 2003 by the Forbes Magazine. He was also conferred with the Udyog Ratna Award by the Government of Himachal Pradesh.
Established in 1981, Cosmo Films (A Business of Cosmo First Limited) today is a global leader in speciality films for packaging, lamination and labeling applications. Our offerings include biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) films, cast polypropylene (CPP) films and biaxially oriented polyethylene terephthalate (BOPET) films.
With manufacturing units in India, Cosmo has a BOPP manufacturing capacity of 1,96,000 TPA and CPP manufacturing capacity of 30,000 TPA and a BOPET capacity of 30,000 TPA with a sales turnover of around USD 375 million in FY 2022-2023. With offices spread across all metro cities in India, the USA, Korea, Europe and Tokyo, Japan. The company exports its products to over 100+ countries across the globe. The company also has multiple patents across India and is globally known as one of the global leaders in speciality films. Cosmo Films is also the largest BOPP film exporter from India and the world’s largest manufacturer of thermal lamination films. Over the years, the company has also forayed into the technical film, rigid packaging, synthetic paper, and premium window film businesses.
Pankaj Poddar is the Group CEO at Cosmo First Ltd, where he leads the company's diverse business units, including Cosmo Films, Cosmo Specialty Chemicals, Cosmo Plastech, Cosmo Sunshield. He is also the Director for Cosmo Speciality Chemicals Private Ltd and Cosmo Speciality Polymers Private Ltd.
His career spans over 26 years, wherein he was a turnaround specialist, quick decision-maker with strengths in commercials, analytics, negotiation, team engagement & strategy building, which mirrored in his leadership at Cosmo Films. His journey with Cosmo Films began in 2011 as the CFO, managing its financial operations in India & overseas. Later, he went on to become the President - India Operations and eventually the CEO in 2013, successfully leading multiple verticals for the company.
In addition to his ongoing role at Cosmo First Ltd. as the Group CEO, he is a regular speaker at various packaging industry forums and resides on the board of the Organization of Plastic Processors of India, IFCA, and Plastic India. Prior to Cosmo First, he has held senior financial positions across major global institutions.
